About Us
Or: how a bad queue turned into a whole website
It started with a two hour line at Topkapi Palace and one very sunburnt travel blogger who swore, halfway through hour one, that there had to be a better way. There was. It was called a museum pass, and almost nobody explained it properly online. So here we are.
IstanbulPass is a small, opinionated team of former tourists, current locals, and one person who has visited the Basilica Cistern more times than is strictly necessary for research purposes. We compare passes, walk the routes, time the queues, and write it all down so you don't have to squint at a confusing official brochure at 7am before your flight.
What We Actually Do
We track pricing on every major Istanbul pass, verify what's actually included (not just what the marketing says), and pair it with honest guides to the museums, attractions, tours, and places to stay that make those passes worth using. If a pass isn't worth it for your trip length, we'll say so. Nobody here gets a bonus for talking you into the more expensive option.
The Slightly Funny Part
We once tried to write a "definitive" ranking of Istanbul's best rooftop views and ended up in a three-way office debate that lasted longer than most of the tours we cover. We did not resolve it. We did, however, agree that everyone should see the Bosphorus at sunset at least once, so that made it into the site anyway.
Why Trust Us With Your Itinerary
Because we would rather send you to the free Blue Mosque than pretend it needs a paid ticket, and we would rather tell you a pass isn't worth it for a two day trip than sell you one anyway. Some of our links earn us a small commission if you book through them, at no extra cost to you, and that's the whole business model. No hidden markups, no fake urgency, just a genuinely useful guide to a city we happen to love.
